Product Description

This gelli printed piece shows a natural progression in my work.

The layers echo the way a landscape is experienced over time. Shifting light, weather, memory and movement. Working with the gelli plate is instinctive and slow; the repetition of printing, lifting and layering becomes almost meditative.
In this work I’m reducing natural forms and shapes down to simple, abstract straight lines and blocks of colour. It’s a way of distilling the landscape to its quiet essentials. The horizon line, the meeting of sea and sky, the rhythm of waves or coastal paths.
Stripping the scene back like this allows the feeling of the place to come through rather than a literal representation.
The layers create depth, much like looking out across water where things are never completely still.
For me, the process is about slowing down and allowing the piece to evolve. The marks build gradually, holding traces of previous layers underneath. That quiet accumulation reflects the role landscape plays in wellbeing.
A space to pause, breathe, and notice small shifts in light and colour.
